ABOUT LEESVILLE AEROSPACE
Course Title: AEROSPACE I

Course Description: This course utilizes the Jeppesen Sanderson ground school curriculum. We will examine aviation history, aerodynamics, meteorology navigation, space travel, and many other related topics. Additionally, special projects will be incorporated into the curriculum to provide a "hands-on" approach to learning.

Goals: The overall goal of this course is to instill in the student an appreciation for the historical events and the development and control of aviation as it exists today. Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between the knowledge gained and the real-world applications.

Required Text: Private Pilot Manual, 6th Edition, Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc., 2002.

Supplemental Materials: Federal Aviation Regulations (FARS), current aviation periodicals, including Aviation Week and Space Technology, Flying magazine, and Flight Training will be used.

Aerospace Notebook: Each student shall have an Aerospace notebook that will not only document the years events, but will also include notes, quizzes and handouts in preparation for chapter and semester exams.

Teaching Methods: Class meetings will be comprised of, but not limited to, discussions, lectures, projects, video presentations, guest speakers, and assigned readings.

Class Policy: See class policy sheet for additional information on class policy. Assignments are to be completed prior to the scheduled class meeting. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. However, I understand that circumstances beyond your control may force you to miss class. Make sure I am notified and we'll work it out. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all class work missed is made up. In addition, each of you is encouraged to assist one another with access to class notes for missed classes.

PROJECTS COUNT AS A TEST GRADE! THERE IS ALWAYS A WRITE-UP FOR EVERY PROJECT. Don't let the write-up keep you from getting a good grade.

There will be a Mid-Term Test that will count as TWO regular tests at the end of the first grading period.

A Check List of key concepts will be compiled by each student to supplement their notebook and will be counted as part of the Homework and Participation Grade for a total of 10%.
