THE LIGHTER THAN-AIR VEHICLE PROJECT FOR 2000.

The project objective was to develop problem solving skills and provide a hands on high energy activity for the Aerospace students.

The project conditions were as follows:

  • No more than one gas envelope per vehicle.
  • The LTAV must perform totally autonomously once released from the starting area. No external intervention.
  • The LTAV may only be propelled by rubber band powered propeller(s). No other propulsion system may be used.
  • The course is a simple race for the wall.
  • The LTAV must be safe!
